Blister-bravers who took part in the Kiltwalk are the toast of nearly 800 Scottish charities after raising £2.3 million so far this year.
Backers of Kiltwalk hope to raise even more in 2018 with the announcement participants can add 40% to the money they raise for the charity of their choice, due to support from The Hunter Foundation.
Sir Tom Hunter, founder of The Hunter Foundation, said: “Kiltwalk is the platform for people across Scotland to raise funds for the charity of their choice – it’s simple, it’s fun and it makes a huge difference to the charities they care about.
“For every £1 they raise, The Hunter Foundation will add another 40p, which I hope makes this platform the most effective fundraising opportunity in Scotland.
“I would urge charities, corporate businesses and individuals alike to take this chance to maximise fundraising for what they care about and have a fantastic time doing it.”
This year, some 14,000 fundraisers took part in the four Scottish Kiltwalks in Dundee, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. A total of 780 charities benefitted from the money raised, with donations still coming in.
Next year’s Kiltwalk events will include one from St Andrews to Dundee on Sunday, August 19.
