A suspect is being quizzed by police after two teenage girls were injured in a hit and run incident in Perthshire on Tuesday.
The girls, believed to be aged 14 and 15, were struck by a Citreon Berlingo van as they walked along the roadside towards a bus stop outside the village of Rait on July 23.
The driver of the van failed to stop at the scene of the collision which left one of the victims in hospital with serious injuries.
On Thursday Tayside Police confirmed “enquiries were continuing” after a man made himself known to officers by attending a police station in connection with incident.
A police spokesperson explained investigations into such incidents can take some time and that no charges were likely to brought until after the probe was complete.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, which occurred at around 3.25pm on the unclassified road 300 metres from the A90 Inchmichael interchange, to come forward and help with their investigation.
The 15-year-old victim, from Rait, is believed to still be in Ninewells Hospital after suffering serious head injuries including a fractured skull which left her unconscious.
The second girl , from Perth, is understood to have suffered less serious injuries.
The best friends were found about 10 feet apart in a hedgerow after being clipped by the van on the country road.
