A busy Perth road was shut down for around two hours this afternoon after a van collided with a building sparking fears of a gas leak.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident on the A94 Strathmore Street in Bridgend at around 1.20pm, closing down the road.
Witnesses on the ground described a “huge response” from Tayside Police and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service after the van hit a gas main during the incident.
One witness told The Courier: “It’s a huge response. They’ve closed the main road.
“I’ve heard it’s a gas leak. A van has hit the side of the building.
SGN engineers responded to the incident alongside the emergency services and worked with fire fighters to make the scene safe.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “An unattended van rolled a short distance into a gas main.
“No-one has been injured thankfully.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
A SFRS spokesperson said: “We got the call at 1.24pm. The call came from the police.
“One car has rolled into the side of a building.”
The road was expected to reopen again shortly after 3pm.
