Controversial plans for new housing in Kinross have been “developed” following a public consultation held earlier this year.
Persimmon Homes held the consultation in February and has detailed further proposals for the new homes at Lathro Meadows.
Technical Director for Persimmon Homes in North Scotland, James MacKay, said: “We extended our discussions beyond the statutory consultation requirements so that people had the opportunity to view, question and provide feedback on our detailed proposals.
“We understand that people have questions about the impact of any new development on their community and we stringently follow the planning process to ensure that all aspects of infrastructure and resources are addressed according to planning regulations.”
Persimmon say the proposals include two puffin crossings but their design and location are still to be confirmed.
Proposals will also include an estimated £22,000 to add pedestrian signals at the junction with the A922 Muirs Road and Lethangie road, and a footpath on the north side of Gallowhill Road.
According to the proposals, the footpath will run from the development’s site entrance for around 175 metres, to meet the existing path.
The plans have been the subject of objections, with concerns raised about how they can be implemented.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Willie Wilson, who represents the Kinross-shire ward said: “One of the main objections is that the site intends to use Gallowhill Road as the main access point for the development.
“This road is not at all suitable as a main access point to such a big estate.
“To offer to create a pavement to link into the already very narrow unsuitable pavement in Gallowhill Road doesn’t really help. It only makes an already bad situation worse.
“Gallowhill is a main access road for students going to Kinross High School and is a popular pedestrian and cycling road.
“I would be happy to meet Persimmon in Gallowhill Road and let them see the long term problems they are going to create for local people.”
The proposals are to be presented to Perth and Kinross Council early next month.
A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson said: “The application will be presented to the planning and development management committee on 1 July.
“Location of the two crossings is being investigated and will be in place prior to the expiry of the condition on phase 1.”
