Perthshire Pride has attracted another Hollywood A-lister to lead its annual celebration.
After Sir Ian McKellen visited the Fair City to front the event last year, Tayside star Alan Cumming has filmed a message of support for this year’s event.
The message will feature as part of a series of videos which will be shared on Perthshire Pride’s social media channels until the end of the month.
The actor, from Aberfeldy, said: “I wish there had been a Perthshire Pride when I was growing up, it would have made it so much easier to connect with my community.
“It’s lovely that the Perthshire queer community now has a way of finding one another.”
Other films include a performance by Perth drag queen, Scarlet Skylar Rae, a reading by author Douglas Stuart from his debut novel, Shuggie Bain, an information video from the Terrence Higgins Trust and a short film on how to take a HIV test.
Co-chairperson on Perthshire Pride, Claire MacKenzie said: “We’re thrilled that Alan Cumming is leading our online celebrations and we’re sure all our supporters will enjoy the series of films we’ve lined up, and we’re so grateful to everyone involved.”
Sir Ian McKellen starred alongside Cumming in the X-Men films.
It was one of only two Pride marches attended by the actor and activist, after also appearing at the festival in London.
This year’s virtual events can be accessed on the Perthshire Pride website, on Facebook, and on Instagram @perthshirepride.
