Perth and District Pipe Band won the coveted Pipe Band Championship Shield at the Royal Braemar Highland Gathering.
It was presented to Pipe Major Alistair Duthie by the Queen, who congratulated the band on its performance, and thanked them for helping to make the day a wonderful event.
After the royal party left, the band were invited to parade around the park and display the shield which was carried by Katie Duthie, the daughter of the pipe major, and one of the band’s youngest pipers.
The shield is presented to the band judged to have come out top overall for playing, marching, dress and deportment, and was the first time the Perth band had won this accolade.
