Perth Racecourse is celebrating record breaking crowd numbers.
An extra 3,000 visitors have attended meetings at Perth so far this season and management say say the 6% rise shows the course is outstripping national averages and bucking the trend of plateauing attendances in the sport.
Final preparations for the Autumn Raceday on Monday, followed by the two-day Glorious Finale at the end of the month are under way.

Chief executive of Perth Racecourse Hazel Peplinksi said: “We’re thrilled with these crowd figures, it’s great news not only for Perth Racecourse but also the local economy given the knock-on positive impact we know that our attendances bring to the city of Perth.”
She said: “While we are fully focused on the final three days of the season, we’d really like to thank all those who have supported the racecourse and helped make it such a fantastic season so far.
“Our increased investment in our race programme and facilities along with an ongoing commitment to bring more fun and enjoyment to the sport appears to be hitting all the right notes; it has been a massive team effort.”
Among the highlights of the 2018 season so far have been a successful season-opening, three-day Perth Festival, the sold-out Ladies Day and Summer Carnival, new Saturday BRAW Raceday and another bumper Gold Cup crowd. All of these meetings are set to return in 2019.
