Security is to be upgraded at a Perthshire school following a spate of vandalism.
Outdoor furniture at the Community School of Auchterarder has been destroyed twice in recent weeks, forcing Perth and Kinross Council to take action.
A wooden hut in the school grounds was damaged last week and in August, The Courier reported vandals had ripped the wooden tables and benches from the ground and left broken bottles in the courtyard, just days before pupils were due back from the summer holidays.
The local authority has pledged to improve the CCTV facilities around the 3-18 campus, in a bid to deter troublemakers.
A spokeswoman said: “We are extremely disappointed that the Community School of Auchterarder has again been subject to vandalism recently.
“Steps are being taken to repair the damage to the hut.
“We have also been in touch with Police Scotland and if anyone has information in relation to this latest incident, we would ask that they contact police.
“The council is also in the early stages of a project to upgrade the CCTV system at the school in the interests of enhancing security and discouraging any similar activity.”
Also in Auchterarder, a notice board at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Catholic Church in Castleton Road was ripped off its mountings last week.
Strathallan councillor Tom Gray said the continuing vandalism is disappointing to see in the usually peaceful town.
“The fact this is recurring means there is obviously a problem and it’s not nice to see,” he said.
“I hope Police Scotland are om top of this and are trying to track down those responsible.
“While it’s good news that the council is improving security, the bad news is some people have a mindset intent on vandalism and all the security in the world won’t change that.”
Police have yet to catch those responsible for any of the incidents.
A spokesman said: “Areas where problems have been identified will be given extra attention.”
