Police are hunting for a young vandal who caused at least £2000 worth of damage to cars parked in Bridge of Earn on Hogmanay.
Police Scotland has issued an appeal for information after a teenager ran across the tops of a number of cars parked in the town’s Dunning Street as crowds gathered to see in the New Year.
A BMW and a Nissan X-Trail were among the vehicles damaged, including dented roofs, bonnets and a cracked windscreen.
It is thought that other vehicles may also have been damaged during the stunt.
A police spokesperson said: “Police Scotland is appealing for information about an incident that took place about 9:30pm on 31st December in Dunning Street, Bridge Of Earn.
A male youth was seen to run over and jump on top of a number of cars in the street. At least two cars, a BMW and a Nissan X-Trail, were damaged with dents to the roofs and bonnets and a cracked windscreen.
“Other cars may have also been damaged as others were seen to have been run over as well. The total cost of damage caused is so far estimated at around £2000.
“Officers would like to trace a white male aged 15-17 years old, slim build with short brown hair, who was wearing a white t-shirt with a large black logo on the front and bright blue trainers.
“There were other youths in the area at the time, but only one was seen to run on the cars and cause damage.

Local councillor Kathleen Baird, Conservative, said: “That is not the kind of behaviour we expect to see from young people in Bridge of Earn. It is not acceptable. We don’t know yet if it is someone from the village or someone visiting. It is normally a very law abiding area, but it is unfortunate that it is the bad news stories that grab the attention and not all the good things that are going on in the village.”
