Celtic youngster Kerr McInroy is convinced that going back to his first love can help him kick-start his career.
The 20-year-old has joined hometown team Dunfermline on a season-long loan after returning to full fitness following almost 10 months out because of a torn cruciate knee ligament.
The Scotland under-19 cap, formerly the reserve captain at Parkhead, had recently been training with the Hoops first-team but was keen to secure a loan move away to gain first-team experience.
And the midfielder is hopeful the switch to East End Park, where he once held a season ticket, will prove perfect.
He said: “I am looking forward to getting started because I need to come out and get games. I spoke to Celtic and they thought that Dunfermline would be the best thing for me.
“As soon as I heard that Dunfermline were interested in me I knew that this was where I wanted to come and that it would be the right place for me.
“I am local, grew up in Dunfermline and stay just 10 minutes away from the ground. I used to come to games here with my grandad when I was younger.
“I know what Dunfermline is all about as a club. I had a season ticket at one time and came to the games quite a lot.”
McInroy joined the Celtic youth set-up aged just 12 after playing for the Blue Brazil Boys Club in Cowdenbeath and was rated highly enough by Brendan Rodgers to be invited to train with the first-team when just 16.
His serious knee injury stunted his development but the youngster is eager to show with the Pars that he is back to his best.
He added: “I just had to stay focused, there were some tough days [when injured] that I just had to push through.
“But I am back fully fit and raring to go. When I came back from the injury I felt better than ever.”
