It could be one striker in at Dunfermline and one out, with Gavin Reilly arriving from Hearts on a one-year loan deal and Celtic making an offer for P J Crossan.

Reilly has struggled to make an impact at Tynecastle since signing from Queen of the South and will link up again with his old Palmerston manager Allan Johnston.

Meanwhile, Courier Sport understands that Celtic are in discussions with the Pars about their young attacker P J Crossan.

Their bid hasn’t been accepted by the East End Park club.

Crossan began attracting attention towards the end of last season, with Nottingham Forest and Brighton among the admirers sending their scouts to check him out.

Celtic though have jumped to the front of the queue.

Crossan made a big impact with Dunfermline’s under-20s and made his first team breakthrough towards the end of the promotion-winning campaign.

The powerful forward is a former Scotland under-17 squad member.

His contract has run out and Dunfermline have offered a new improved one.

Should he move on they would be due a development fee.

Meanwhile, manager Allan Johnston is thrilled to be linking up with Reilly again.

“He’s a player I know well from Queen of the South,” Johnston said. “He’s got pace and he’s a finisher.

“He played a lot of games under me and he’s still got hunger and desire to do well. That’s the type of player we’re looking for.

“He’s desperate to do well and I’m sure he’ll be hungry to score more goals. He’s proven at Championship level. I’m sure he’ll be a big asset to us.

“It’s a massive season for Dunfermline and for him.”
