Arbroath assistant boss Ian Campbell looking for his side to ditch the draws

Arbroath assistant manager Ian Campbell is looking for his players to ditch the draws and embark on a sustained run of victories.

Last weekend’s 1-1 result with Berwick was the Red Lichties’ sixth stalemate of the league season so far.

Those draws have cost Arbroath dear with Forfar still seven points ahead of them at the top of the League 2 table.

So, even although the Angus side are currently six games unbeaten, Campbell is looking for more wins to help mount a big promotion push – starting today at Annan.

He said: “It is a hard place to go and it will be a big challenge for us.

“They are a strong side and they play on Astroturf but that shouldn’t be a problem for us as we train on an artificial surface.

“We had two good sessions this week and there is a great atmosphere in the camp.

“We haven’t been beaten for a while and there is still more to come from this side.

“We are determined that the second nine games of the league campaign will be better than the first.

“There is very little between the teams in this league but we are determined to go on a winning run to take us up the table.

“Not many teams will beat us but we have to start turning draws into wins.”

Arbroath have no injury concerns while defender Jassem Sukar returns from suspension.
