Cowdenbeath boss sees encouraging signs

Cowdenbeath manager Liam Fox is hoping that the encouraging signs he saw from his recast squad last week will be turned into a tangible result against visitors Elgin today.

The bottom of the table Blue Brazil went down 3-1 to league leader Forfar seven days ago however Fox believes that more positive outcomes are now within sight.

He explained: “Our first half performance at Forfar was very encouraging. The players did really well as they did not let Forfar get into a rhythm and stopped them getting on top.

“We were at the home of the league leaders and we dominated for long periods. We have to take encouragement from that. The only criticism I had was that we were not more than the one goal up. It could have been very different if we had been.

“Things flipped in the second half however there is potential in this new look squad that we can build on. The new players have settled in quickly however we do realise that we need to turn that potential into points.”

The visitors are in fine form having won their last three games.

Foxed noted: “Elgin are going well and we are under no illusions that it is another hard game so soon after the Forfar one.

“Our first half performance at Forfar last weekend gives me plenty of hope that we can do well.”

Robbie Buchanan, who has been recruited for a third time on loan from Hearts, is in line for his debut, with the Fifers’ manager adding: “I know Robbie well from our time together at Hearts and I know the positives that he will bring to the group.”

Kenny Adamson is still out, with new recruit Matthew Rooney set for a place on the bench.
