Raith Rovers boss Barry Smith not looking too far ahead

Raith Rovers entertain Forfar today, with manager Barry Smith refusing to look beyond the short-term, despite the destiny of the League One title being back in the Kirkcaldy club’s hands.

Three wins in a row coupled with leaders Ayr losing twice has seen the Stark’s Park men move to within two points of the Honest Men with two games in hand.

Ayr, though, are not on Smith’s mind.

He said: “I am not going to talk about doing this or doing that as all I am concentrating on is winning against Forfar.

“I just want Raith Rovers to win games and then we can see what happens.

“It would be great to round off a busy week with another win and make it nine points from nine.

“We defeated Stranraer last weekend and then had a very exciting win at East Fife in midweek. If we can add a victory over Forfar to that then it will have been a very exciting week indeed.”

Smith added: “It will not be easy as Forfar are a dangerous side who came back from two goals down to win at Ayr United last weekend.

“Jim Weir is making his presence felt there and we need to be on top of our game to win.

“The recruitment of Dale Hilson has made a lot of people sit up and take notice of Forfar and he is a player that will need careful watching.

“However we have plenty of players that Forfar will need to watch. We have been strong at home all season and we want that to continue.”

New loan recruit from Celtic, Regan Hendry, is included.

Smith said: “Regan is an exciting young player who can create things for us. It is an opportunity for him to show what he can do in a first team environment and he will be involved at some stage.”

Kevin Cuthbert, Kevin McHattie, Kyle Benedictus and Bobby Barr are all still out, however John Herron could return.
