Forfar boss may need to wheel and deal

Forfar boss Jim Weir has been left in no doubt that his squad needs expanded.

With injuries and suspensions already taking their toll early in the season, there could be some Station Park wheeling and dealing in the last week of the transfer window.

Weir, who will be without Matty Aitken, Dale Hilson, Michael Travis and Dylan Easton for the visit of Stenhousemuir this afternoon, said: “I played as strong a team as I had available at Livingston in midweek and my options are limited again this weekend.

“With three or four injuries, as we have just now, our squad is light.

“There might be some wheeling and dealing to get more depth. There is nothing imminent, though.”

A win, a draw and a defeat has left Forfar in mid-table ahead of today’s game.

“I’m not going to say who they are but I think there are a couple of strong teams and we have to make sure we hang on to them,” said Weir.

“We’ve played well in two of the three games and we’re looking for points and a good performance in front of our own fans.

“We were disappointed to lose on penalties in midweek but if we play how we’re capable of, then we can get the win we’re looking for.”
