Arbroath’s profile has probably never been higher but boss Dick Campbell is determined to keep everyone grounded and fully focused on what is immediately in front of his team.
The Red Lichties are now one of only two sides in the UK who are unbeaten in the league – the other is Jurgen Klopp’s English giants Liverpool.
The Gayfield gaffer and the club were featured on Sky Sports yesterday with the Arbroath fans interviewed for the piece in no doubt which manager they would prefer to be in charge of their club and it wasn’t the German.
Those supporters had more to celebrate last weekend when their team won 3-2 at the home of near neighbours Forfar thanks to a Bobby Linn hat-trick while closest rivals Raith were going down by the same scoreline at Montrose.
That left Rovers trailing a massive 13 points behind the league leaders with the game between the two sides on December 22 at Gayfield looking like it could prove pivotal to the eventual destination of the title.
However, Campbell insists that all he is concerned about is today’s match at Airdrie.
The manager said: “It was another fantastic result in a derby at Forfar last week to keep our unbeaten run going.
“I didn’t feel we played particularly well in the first half but we stepped up a gear in the second and it was a great three points for us.
“Bobby once again got all the headlines with his hat-trick and there really isn’t much more I can say about him.
“He is in the form of his life at the moment and it was some free-kick to win the game but I felt his second goal was even better.
“The only down side to the Forfar game was Tam O’Brien’s sending off so there will obviously have to be a change at the back this week as he is suspended
“But we have Callum Smith back available again after he recovered from injury.
“I know a lot of our fans will already be looking forward to our game with Raith a week on Saturday but we are just 100% focused on what is in front of us and a tough match at Airdrie.”
