Brechin manager Barry Smith is prepared to throw new signing Michael Miller into the mix if he needs to.
The former Celtic and Livingston midfielder was confirmed as City’s new signing on Thursday and could feature today against Stenhousemuir as the bottom two sides in League One do battle at Ochilview.
It is a massive match for the Angus men, with victory taking them five points clear of the Warriors with a game in hand and defeat dropping them to the foot of the division.
The 24-year-old might be needed due to the injury problems hardly easing for Smith.
He will be without Sean Burns, Callum Tapping, Euan Spark and Dene Shields, while Dougie Hill, Lewis Toshney and Andy Jackson are doubtful.
Smith said: “Michael comes to us with a good pedigree having been at Celtic, while Livingston was his last club.
“He is match-ready and if we need to put him in we will do.
“He has been training for two to three months and played some games so he would be available.”
The lengthy casualty list does not make Smith’s job any easier for the basement battle.
However, he struck an optimistic note, saying: “There are still a lot of points to be played for bwtween now and the end of the season.
“This would be a very good game to win and we will be going down there looking to do just that.
“There is pressure on the squad but we still feel we can get a positive result.”
