Dundee manager James McPake has hit back after Partick Thistle manager Ian McCall claimed the Dark Blues were “under pressure.”

McCall was hurting after a goal from Paul McGowan secured all three points for the visitors at Firhill on Saturday.

The former Dundee United gaffer had said: “They are under pressure at Dundee, so it was a huge win for them.”

McPake was having none of that as he prepared to take on the Tangerines at Tannadice on Friday night.

He responded: “I was made aware of the comments on Sunday and I was surprised.

“I don’t see any real need for him to comment on what is going on at our club.

“I think we are in an industry where every single manager is under pressure so that’s what surprised me.

“He can say what he wants but it was a bit strange to hear him say how Dundee were under pressure – of course we are because we are a big club.

“He should just concentrate on his own team. They have their own issues being second bottom as a big club as well so it was surprising to hear him commenting on us.

“It makes no difference either way but I’ve found out that win, lose or draw every manager is under pressure.”
