Dundee talisman Greg Stewart is set to return for tomorrow’s crucial Betfred Cup clash with Dumbarton.
The former Cowdenbeath forward, twice on the shortlist for the Premiership’s player of the year, has returned to training this week.
Stewart’s creativity was badly missed at East Fife last weekend, when Paul Hartley’s men were held to a 1-1 draw and then lost the bonus point penalty shoot-out.
The Stewart comeback, after picking up a hip injury at Dundee’s Austrian training camp, will be a big boost for an important match for the Dens Park side if they want to top their Betfred Cup group.
Meanwhile, Dumbarton’s former Scotland international defender Darren Barr is nearing a return from injury as well, but it won’t be in time for the weekend.
The match will be Dundee’s first home fixture of the season and will be pay at the gate, with the South Enclosure, Bobby Cox and Main Stand all open.
Prices are £12 for adults and £6 concessions. The arrangements will be the same for the other home match in the Betfred Cup group against Forfar and will revert to usual arrangements for the Ladbrokes Premiership season.
