Celtic may be sweeping all before them in Scotland but Faissal El Bakhtaoui believes his Dundee side can bring the Hoops’ domestic domination to a halt – if they can play like Paris Saint-Germain.
The Dark Blues face Brendan Rodgers’ team in the quarter-final of the Betfred Cup at Dens tomorrow night.
Celtic will start as huge favourites to go through to the semi-finals but El Bakhtaoui was at Parkhead last week to see the Glasgow giants torn apart in the Champions League by a star-studded PSG outfit.
That result showed him they are beatable but El Bakhtaoui acknowledged Dundee will still have to play out of their skins if they hope to upset the odds.
The 24-year-old said: “I was at Celtic Park for the PSG game.
“Scott Allan got me tickets to see the match and I went along with my friend.
“PSG are a great team and produced one of the best performances I have ever seen.
“To be fair to them they have some really good players but so do Celtic.
“It just didn’t happen for Celtic on the night.
“It is not often you go to Celtic Park and see a team exploit their weaknesses like PSG did.
“Dundee now know how to play against Celtic – we just have to play like PSG!
“Watching the PSG match gives you some hope that Celtic are beatable
“It is going to be very tough for us though because Celtic are a good team.
“I would like to think that Celtic would change their team around as that would give us a better chance.”
Dundee will go into the game with their confidence boosted after securing their first Premiership win of the season over St Johnstone on Saturday.
El Bakhtaoui added: “This was our first victory and I think we deserved it because we have played well against every team this season.
“We have been making chances and it just didn’t happen for us.
“It was a good day for us against St Johnstone and it was a great feeling to get three points.
“We now have a massive game against Celtic. It is a big cup game for us at home.
“Celtic are the best team in Scotland and we are playing against really good players.
“We will just have to concentrate and work hard against them.”
