Dundee United have appointed former Dundee City Council chief executive David Dorward to their board as an associate director.

Dorward, who has supported the Tangerines for over 40 years and is a member of fans’ group ArabTRUST,  joins the recently-appointed business woman Laura Conway around the Tannadice boardroom table.

The appointments of Dorward and Conway follow the retiral of John Bennett and resignation of Justine Mitchell as directors.

United chairman Stephen Thompson said, “David is a great addition to our boardroom.

“He has vast experience in local government and brings a skill set which will help to strengthen and improve us”

He added, “I promised recently that we were looking to bring fresh faces and a new vision to the boardroom.

“We have already done that with the appointment of the entrepreneur Laura Conway, and David is further evidence of that progressive change.”

Dorward was pleased to be on board, saying: “I am delighted to accept this invitation to join Dundee United as an associate director.

“With over 40 years of service in local government, I feel that I have a wide range of skills which can be of significant benefit and add value to the club.

“There are many changes happening at Tannadice and I look forward to being part of those and to helping United to have a positive and bright future.”
