Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon promises not to “park the bus” at Easter Road

Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon promised not to “park the bus” when they face Hibs despite being without key players.

Willo Flood and Stewart Murdoch have already been ruled out of tomorrow’s Easter Road clash, while Charlie Telfer’s chances of making it are rated only 50-50 by McKinnon.

That means at least two and possibly three key midfielders will be sitting in the stand rather than running around the pitch but McKinnon remains determined to have a go at the Hibees.

The United boss said: “Willo is out and will miss the game.

“That’s big blow but he needs to get over the injury and get fit again.

“Unfortunately, Murdo is out as well and Charlie is only 50-50.

“We can rule the first two out now but we may very well be without three midfielders for Sunday.

“We have a decent squad there so we will have reorganise things and come up with a system that will suit the players and give us the best chance of winning the game.

“I hope it’s an open match.

“We certainly won’t be going there and parking any buses – that’s not Dundee United’s style.

“Our style is to go and win the game.

“When you have players like Tony Andreu, Nick van der Velden, Cammy Smith and Blair Spittal in your side then you have loads of attacking options.

“If we can win the match then we will be only two points behind Hibs so that’s a great incentive for us.”
