Sadat Anaku found the net for Dundee United as the Tangerines played out a breathless 2-2 draw with Hibernian in the SPFL Reserve League.
Logan Chalmers, Kieran Freeman and Mathew Cudjoe were among the recognised United first-teamers in action at Hibs’ East Lothian training base.
With interim head coach Liam Fox and sporting director Tony Asghar among those watching on from the sidelines, United claimed the lead in the second half when Kai Fotheringham converted a Cudjoe delivery.
A sumptuous curling drive by Jair Tavares swiftly restored parity.
However, the Tangerines were back in front when Ugandan marksman Anaku – United’s eighth summer signing – benefited from some lax Hibees’ defending before firing home.
The spoils would ultimately be shared following a thrilling second 45 when Hibs, who fielded experienced stars such as Lewis Stevenson and Darren McGregor, levelled once more.
There was an element of good fortune to the equaliser, with a corner-kick unfortunately diverted into his own net by Fotheringham.
United’s next fixture in the relaunched SPFL Reserve League takes place at Rugby Park on October 4 when the Terrors travel to Kilmarnock.
