Montrose boss Stewart Petrie insists his side’s safety is still not assured in League 2.
That’s despite the fact the Gable Endies are currently sitting fifth in the table and are now 16 points ahead of bottom-placed Cowdenbeath in the dreaded pyramid play-off spot.
Montrose successfully negotiated a recent triple header of away matches when they won at Clyde on Tuesday night.
At the same time, the Blue Brazil were losing to Edinburgh City but Petrie insists it is still too early to dismiss the chances of his side being dragged back into a basement battle ahead of this afternoon’s match against in-form Annan.
The Links Park manager said: “It was another good result for us at Clyde.
“It was fantastic to see Kerr Hay score his first goal for the club. I have known him for a while and he will be a good asset for Montrose.
“The lads did really well to be unbeaten after three away matches in the space of 10 days at tough venues in Edinburgh, Forfar and Clyde.”
When asked if Montrose had now confirmed they were safe in League 2, Petrie insisted: “No, it’s too early to say that. The win at Clyde just means we have another three points on board.
“Things can change quickly in this league in three or four games – just look at Annan.
“It will be a difficult match against them as they are a team in form.
“However, we are determined to make Links Park a place where other teams don’t feel comfortable coming to.
“We know we will have to be at our best against a side that is close to us in the league table but we now have competition for places which is a good thing and we will go into the game with confidence.”
Ryan Ferguson will miss the match because of a groin strain.
