Results against the bottom six Premiership clubs have cost St Johnstone the chance of challenging Hearts and Aberdeen for second and third, according to midfielder Liam Craig.
Because competing with the big boys certainly hasn’t been a concern.
And a positive result against newly-crowned champions Celtic tonight will continue that theme and make sure they clinch fourth.
“What Hearts and Aberdeen have done this season has been incredible,” Craig admitted.
“We lost nine points to Partick Thistle, six points to Kilmarnock and I think we took one point off Dundee. They all finished in the bottom six.
“That has cost us challenging Aberdeen and Hearts. It is frustrating but we’ve not got anybody else to blame for that.
“We’ve beaten Aberdeen twice and drawn with them, and look at the points we’ve taken off Hearts as well.
“It’s a tough league, and the fact that we’re in with a very good chance of fourth is a big positive.”
