Sausage dog

A Dunfermline yob spouted anti-Irish abuse at a neighbour who would not let him feed his dog a sausage.

Kyle Mackie, who was once jailed for more than three years after holding up a bookies in Dunfermline, appeared at the city’s court for sentence after admitting acting in a threatening manner at the block of flats in which he lives at Beatty Place.

On June 15 Mackie drunkenly returned home and went into the back garden, where he asked the neighbour if he could feed his dog a sausage.

The owner said he did not want his pet eating greasy food, but Mackie, 34, dropped the banger anyway.

He was later spotted putting more food out for the dog and trying to attract its attention.

After getting into an argument with the owner, Mackie called him “f***ing Irish” and “a c***” and said: “I’m going to slash your tyres.”

Sheriff Charles MacNair KC ordered Mackie to complete 113 hours of unpaid work.

He noted Mackie has a criminal record including four breaches of the peace and seven incidents of threatening or abusive behaviour.

Serial abuser Lee Johnston, 34, deemed a “high risk” to children, has been handed a life sentence.

He was previously convicted by jurors of 13 charges involving five youngsters during an eight-year campaign of abuse.

The crimes included rape, sexual assault and taking and sharing indecent images of children.

Johnston struck across different areas of Fife in Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Leven and Anstruther between 2011 and 2019.

At the High Court in Glasgow, Judge Alistair Watson imposed an Order for Lifelong Restriction and told the pervert he must serve a minimum of five years behind bars.

He stated: “A common feature of your crimes was you engineering a situation to persuade the parents of the children to place their trust in you.

“You then abused that trust in the most heinous way.”

He further added: “It is self-evident that the psychological harm to certain of your victims is bound to be very significant and long lasting.”

Johnston was told he had shown no “empathy or remorse” while continuing to deny his guilt.

He also failed to show at court on a previous occasion and breached bail.

Johnston was put on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.
