Lidl ban

A Dundee man has been banned from Lidl after being accused of attacking staff and police there.

Lynsey Sloan appeared from custody at Dundee Sheriff Court to deny committing eight offences at the Dura Street supermarket.

It is alleged the 42-year-old stole batteries and alcohol, before acting threateningly towards an employee.

Sloan, of Hilltown Court, is alleged to have attempted to strike the worker with a walking stick, butted him on the head and forced him to the ground.

Sloan is further accused of engaging in a struggle and repeatedly punching him on the head and biting his hand.

Sloan is banned from the Lidl store in Dura Street, Dundee.

Sloan is accused of assaulting a second employee by punching him on the head.

While at the supermarket and during his journey in police custody to West Bell Street HQ, Sloan is alleged to have acted abusively by repeatedly shouted, sworn, adopted an aggressive demeanour and made both homophobic remarks and threats of violence.

Further allegations state he communicated indecently by making threats of sexual violence towards two male police constables and refused to provide his details.

An final charge claims Sloan assaulted one of the male officers by attempting to butt him.

He was released on bail on condition he dies not enter Lidl and a trial was fixed for June.

Jealous boyfriend

A jealous boyfriend who “flew off the handle” after his girlfriend made assault allegations against him has been fined £133.

Michael O’Brien, 22, of Thriepland Wynd, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court and admitted a domestically-aggravated charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the home he shared with partner Sinead Lovie.

The 22-year-old, who had been in a relationship with Ms Lovie for two years, arrived at the property in the early hours of June 30 last year.

She had been at home drinking with another man throughout the day, fiscal depute David Currie said.

“The accused had been jealous that they were drinking together.

“An argument ensued between the accused and complainer.

“He called her a ‘slag’ and a ‘c***’.

“In the living room, he smashed a door panel by repeatedly kicking it.”

The court heard Ms Lovie, 22, went to the bedroom and could hear her partner screaming, shouting and punching things outside.

Solicitor Mike Tavendale said she then accused his client of assault.

He said: “Mr O’Brien accepts that he flew off the handle.

“It’s very unlikely he will be back in court again. He has learned his lesson.”

The solicitor added there was “no intention” of rekindling the relationship.

Last month, Ms Lovie was placed on probation for a year after she admitted assaulting O’Brien by spitting at him in February, last year.

After the assault, she broke bail by asking him for Calvin Harris tickets.

‘Dirty grass’

A Dunfermline man who threatened his neighbour and called him a “dirty grass” has been fined.

Glen Keenan, 54, of Urquhart Crescent, was shouting and swearing for about two to three minutes during the incident on May 4 last year.

Procurator fiscal depute Jill Currie told Dunfermline Sheriff Court the neighbour had been parked in a van outside his home in the city’s Berrylaw Place when Keenan approached.

He “called the complainer a ‘dirty grass’ and told him he was ‘going to punch his c**t in, and wanted him out of the street and that his brothers would see to it”.

Defence lawyer Danielle Stringer said there is “ongoing animosity” between the pair and a previous matter before the court is now resolved.

It was not said in court what the dispute was about.

The solicitor said Keenan is apologetic to his neighbour and anyone who overheard the outburst, and that he advises he has a good relationship with other neighbours in the area.

He pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing, making threats and behaving in an aggressive manner.

He was fined £540.
