A schoolboy suffered life threatening injuries and was “unable to speak” after a horrific golf club attack in Perth. The 15-year-old was left with a cracked skull following the assault by Dean Williamson, 18, in broad daylight on Dunkeld Road in 2021.

Dean Williamson appeared at Perth Sheriff Court.

Slashed in the street

George McGlashan slashed a man in a mobility scooter who had made accusations against one of his relatives.

McGlashan confronted one-legged Thomas McArthur, 45, in a car park in Kirkcaldy in the early hours of August 7 2021.

Prosecutor Greg Farrell told the High Court in Glasgow: “George McGlashan was in possession of a box cutter knife.

“During the course of an altercation, Thomas McArthur was knocked to the ground.

“McGlashan then repeatedly struck him on the head and body with the knife.”

Medics went on to discover Mr McArthur on the ground covered in blood beside his mobility scooter.

Mr Farrell: “He initially refused medical attention saying he ‘just wanted to die there’.”

The court heard he eventually accepted treatment at hospital in Edinburgh.

The prosecutor said: “The injuries were severe and resulted in scarring.”

McGlashan, 58, pled guilty to assault Mr McArthur to his severe injury, permanent disfigurement and the danger of life.

He was remanded and will be sentenced on June 20 in Lanark.

Lewis McIntosh, from Ballingry, was held at Perth Prison as he awaited trial on a matter for which he was eventually acquitted..
