More than £2,000 has been donated to help Dundee Foodbank help keep up with demand.
The charity has had to treble its output during lockdown and is now handling three tonnes of items a week to keep up with the number of people in need.
Rotary Club of Claverhouse member Nick White volunteers at the foodbank and saw the need firsthand, prompting the club’s £2,290 donation,
The retired Dundee GP said: “I have seen the severe difficulties which many Dundee families have to endure through this challenging period.
“In common with all the workers and volunteers here, we want to show that we care by providing food to put on the table of those in our communities who are in need.”
Ken Linton, Dundee Foodbank manager, thanked club members for the donation.
He added: “It is difficult to know how long this upsurge in demand will last while uncertainty in employment continues.
“Many families do not have savings to fall back on and they will require our support well into the future.”
