Yesterday I was descending down a 140 foot building and it was utterly surreal.
I’ve never abseiled in my life and have to admit to feeling more than a little nervous as the clock ticked towards 1pm on Saturday afternoon.
I had already watched several people descend the building by the time my turn came round and as I struggled to get into my harness I became more and more jealous of those who had gone before me.
I really needn’t have worried though.
Thankfully during the slow climb down you’re focusing so much on what to do that you really don’t have time to think about what you’re putting yourself through.
I did manage to steal a couple of quick looks at the stunning sights on offer, but spent most of my time focusing intently at the wall of the building.
Looking back on the experience I’m filled with only pride and satisfaction. I would definitely do it again.
