A Dundee charity shop was far from being always with the bridesmaid after taking delivery of a remarkable donation.
The “unbelievable” gift of 200 new bridesmaid dresses to the Wellgate’s St Margaret of Scotland Hospice branch by a Broughty Ferry bridal shop left staff speechless.
The dresses, some of which originally cost more than £200, were handed into the store after manager Paul Smith completed one of his weekly drives around the city, distributing leaflets asking for donations.
Priced at £25 each, around 100 of the total number donated remain available for sale.
Store manager Mr Smith revealed: “I was out collecting donations from a lady in Broughty Ferry and had a two-minute conversation with one of her neighbours who asked which charity shop I was from and what we do.
“It was a two minute conversation and I never thought anything else about it. Six months later I got a phone call from him saying he had these dresses and did I want them. It was just like that — from a two minute conversation.
“I was just in the right place at the right time. It’s unusual for something like that to happen to a small independent charity. For us to get something like this is amazing.
“We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the donors of these dresses, and to everyone else who has handed goods in within the last year.”
