Man arrested then released as probe into sexual assault behind Dundee nightclub continues

A man who was arrested by police investigating a sexual assault near a Dundee nightclub has been released.

The 25-year-old was taken into custody on Saturday after the attack near Pout on St Andrew’s Street in the early hours of the morning.

Police say they are continuing to investigate after a 26-year-old woman was attacked in what is understood to be a rape.

Several officers were seen in attendance in a car park near the Cowgate nightspot all day on Saturday while scenes of crime officers gathered evidence.

A police cordon was also put in place, preventing the public from entering the private car park.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 25-year-old man had been arrested, he has now been released and enquiries are ongoing.”
