A man has been taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Dundee, leaving the road closed.
Emergency services raced to South Road after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Thursday morning.
Police closed off the road just after 8am near the Coupar Angus Road roundabout.
The road was reopened around six hours later.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed a man was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment following the incident.
The extent of his injuries are unknown as the road remains closed between Kirk Street and the Lochee bypass roundabout.
Motorists are being advised by police to avoid the area as emergency crews deal with the incident.
One passerby said a police van was blocking the entrance to South Road at the Coupar Angus Road roundabout.
‘Officers redirecting traffic’
She said: “A mini appears to have hit a pedestrian near the entrance to the Lidl car park.
“The windscreen looks pretty smashed up.
“Police seem to be carrying out inquiries in the area to establish what happened.
“There are around three police cars on the road, with some officers redirecting traffic.”
A spokeswoman for the force said: “Around 8.05am on Thursday September 29, we were called to a report of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car on South Road, Dundee.
“The road is currently closed between Kirk Street and the Lochee bypass roundabout. Road users are advised to avoid the area.
“A man has been taken to Ninewells Hospital.”
