Three people arrested in connection with the Halloween chaos in Kirkton have been released pending further inquiries.

A 16-year-old male, a 15-year-old male and a 28-year-old woman were due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday, police had announced.

All three were liberated by the fiscal’s office as investigations continue and are due to appear in the court at a later date.

Legal rules mean they cannot be publicly named at this stage.

Police had announced earlier in the day the woman and 15-year-old boy have both been charged with mobbing and rioting offences.

The 16-year-old was one of two arrested on Thursday. The second has been reported to prosecutors and could appear in court at a later date.

Riot police were called in on Monday after fires were started, fireworks were thrown and a school, shop and car were vandalised.

More arrests expected

One police officer was left with minor injuries while dealing with the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “As part of our investigation into the disorder in the Kirkton area of Dundee on Monday, officers have charged a 28-year-old woman and a 15-year-old male youth.

“Both have been charged with mobbing and rioting offences.”
