The 32-year-old succumbed despite the efforts of neighbours who launched a rescue bid after alerting the emergency services.
On Wednesday, a solitary bunch of flowers outside of the property was the only telltale sign of the tragedy.
Written inside was the message: “Forever in our hearts”.
Neighbour Dennis McBride had earlier spoken of his brave efforts to save Mr Kerr after noticing smoke coming from the flat when he walked past on Tuesday morning.
Joined by another member of the public, he attempted to break down the door of the flat.
“There was quite a bit of smoke and it was quite a pungent smell,” he said.
“Myself and the other guy were banging on the doors and you could feel the heat.
“We did everything we could. The doors were quite heavy and we couldn’t batter them down.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed yesterday that officers were still investigating the cause of Tuesday’s blaze.
