A boy has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in a Fife village.
The seven-year-old was taken by ambulance under police escort to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, following the incident in Auchtermuchty on Monday morning.
It is understood the youngster’s injuries are not life-threatening.
An air ambulance was also dispatched and landed in a field nearby but the boy was conveyed by road.
The collision occurred on the Low Road near Burnside Auto Centre at around 11.15am.
Police closed the road at the Low Road junction with Crosshills for almost three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
A police spokesman said: “A seven-year-old boy was involved in a collision with a car which stopped at the scene.
“He was taken to Ninewells Hospital.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
One local resident said there were two ambulances at the scene as well as the helicopter. There were also a police van and a police car, she said.
