A pair of Perth businesses have been rewarding the hard work of medical professionals at the city’s hospital with tasty Asian delicacies.
Staff from Tabla and The Everest Inn have been dropping off meals at Perth Royal Infirmary.
The Everest Inn’s manager Bhola Khanal said: “We delivered food for about 30 people who worked very hard in this pandemic situation.
“Our business is closed, but we’d like to help these people who is working in the frontline to save the lives from coronavirus.”
Tabla owner and Praveen Kumar, is stocking a freezer in the doctor’s mess at Perth Royal Infirmary.
The businessman recently launched a ready meal business and became the first culinary business to expand into Perth’s Food and Drink Park.
Praveen and his wife Swarna delivered the first batch of meals to the hospital on Thursday and they have already proving popular amongst hospital staff.
Dr Duncan Anderson, a junior doctor at Perth Royal Infirmary, said: “We’re loving the curries in the doctor’s mess this weekend. We seriously can’t thank you enough for the generous donation of food at PRI.”
The plan was arranged by Praveen’s employee Sanjay Bhattacharya, whose girlfriend Olivia is also a junior doctor with NHS Tayside.
Sanjay said: “I heard from Liv that lots of the hospital staff didn’t have time to make meals for themselves to take in to work, and the canteen food is miserable.
“I thought Praveen could help out, and he instantly agreed to donate these meals. I’m glad we can make their work a bit better for our hardworking healthcare professionals.”
“We are looking to do a similar scheme at Ninewells Hospital. We hope to have it running soon. After that, we will look to other key worker locations that can benefit from this”
