Police are investigating two “similar” break-ins at homes in rural Perthshire.
Raiders targeted a house in Broadwood Terrace, Auchterarder, at around 1.2opm on Monday.
They smashed their way through rear patio doors, police said.
It is believed the would-be thieves fled empty handed when an alarm at the property activated.
Investigators said two men were seen nearby at the time of the raid, and drove off in a black car towards High Street.
One of the men was described by a witness as wearing black clothing and the other had a light jacket.
Meanhwile, a house in Glenearn Place, Bride of Earn, was broken into on the same day, sometime between 11am and 3.30pm.
Again, entry was gained by smashing patio doors at the back of the property. However, nothing appears to have been stolen.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We cannot formally link these two incidents at the moment, although they are very similar in nature.”
Anyone with information is urged to call 101 or freephone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
