Three men broke into a shop in Invergowire in the early hours of this morning — but left without taking anything.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at the Scotmid on Main Street at about 12.30am.

Three men broke into and entered the shop, but police suspect they may have been disturbed as they left without stealing anything.

An attempt was also made to break into a white Hyundai i40 parked nearby in Carselea Road, which officers believe was done by the same trio.

The car was damaged, but they failed to break into it.

Officers would like to trace three men seen on the shop’s CCTV.

The first is described as white, slim build, wearing a light coloured baseball cap, light coloured jacket and jogging bottoms, black gloves and trainers with a reflective stripe.

The second is white, slim build and in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a dark baseball cap with yellow writing, a dark hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and dark shoes.

The third is also white with a slim build and in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a two-tone black and white cap, dark button-up jacket over a light hooded top, and grey jogging bottoms with white stripes down the legs.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 with reference number 0080 of January 17.
