More than £100,000 has been allocated to “warm banks” across Perth and Kinross.

Perth and Kinross Council has dished out the cash to help charities and other groups provide warm places to spend tie throughout the winter.

Some locations will also offer food, company and activities.

Warm banks, also known as warm or cosy spaces, have been springing up across the country as the cost of living crisis continues to bite and energy bills soar.

Council leader Grant Laing said: “Over the last year, the council has committed £5.2 million to help families and vulnerable residents through the cost of living crisis.

“This support will provide everyone with access to safe, welcoming and warm places whatever their circumstances.

“Some will provide activities, others will serve food and some are just places people can go and visit.

“Whatever the location, everybody will be guaranteed a warm welcome.”
