The mother of a teenage boy who was attacked outside Perth Grammar said she is keeping her son out of school over safety fears.
Police are investigating two attacks in the Muirton area, both of which were captured on video.
The mum of one victim said her son has not been back at school since he was assaulted, adding more must be done to make pupils feel safe.
Footage shared with The Courier shows two teens being kicked and punched by other pupils in woodland near Perth Grammar School on Friday February 3.
Both victims were kicked on the head as they lay on the ground.
During one clip a voice can he heard encouraging a boy to “kill” his victim.
One parent told The Courier her son – who features in one of the videos – hasn’t been to school since being assaulted.
The mother, who did not wish to be named, questioned protocols in place at the school, following a number of high-profile incidents.
Fears more children will be ‘terrorised’ at Perth Grammar
She is now considering relocating her son but is aware of the “upheaval” this may cause him.
She said: “We’re hearing of so many cases of bullying and attacks at this school.
“I can’t expect anything worthwhile to be put in place after my son was attacked.
“They want my son back in quickly but don’t have any plans in place to prevent this from reoccurring.
“My son has not only lost his pride but we now face the upheaval of possibly relocating to another school, where he will have to start over again.
“This means making new friends and leaving old ones which just isn’t fair.
“It feels like he is still suffering from this bully’s actions while he gets to carry on.”
‘School can’t ensure his safety’
She added: “This isn’t the first incident, so clearly any protocol they already have in place isn’t working.
“The person responsible will be back in school in a few days, so unfortunately my son won’t be, as the school can’t ensure his safety.
“Going forward I’ve yet to set up a meeting with the school to find out exactly how they will be dealing with it from their perspective.”
It was revealed another Perth Grammar parent is now home schooling her son after he was allegedly assaulted on several occasions last month.
‘Keep our schools safe’
A spokesman for Perth and Kinross Council gave assurances they take pupils’ safety “extremely seriously”.
He said: “It would be inappropriate to comment on a live investigation or on individual pupils.
“However, we take the safety of all our children and young people in our schools extremely seriously.
“All our schools, including Perth Grammar, work with police, parents and young people where necessary to ensure appropriate action is taken to keep our schools safe for pupils.
“We would ask parents and guardians to contact their child’s school to discuss any issues or concerns they may have.”
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed the investigation into the attacks is ongoing.
