East Fife manager Gary Naysmith drove across Scotland on Saturday to ensure that he was up to date with the form of tonight’s visitors Alloa.
The Bayview boss hosted a lunchtime question and answer session with the Fife club’s fans before heading to Dumfries to take in the Wasps 2-0 Irn-Bru Cup defeat from Queen of the South.
It was a worthwhile cross-country dash as Naysmith explained.
He said: “I had not seen Alloa play since Jim Goodwin took over from Jack Ross so I wanted to see if there were any changes to the way they go about things.
“Alloa played well in large parts of the game and there were not a lot of differences but there were one or two things that I learned that could prove very useful.
“In a league as competitive as ours it can often come down to very fine margins and making a trip like that could make the difference.”
Naysmith’s side have slipped into second bottom place after a five-game run without a win, however there is no panic.
Naysmith added: “The league is splitting into two with four clubs, including Alloa, going for the title, and the other six battling it out to avoid issues at the foot. It is really tight but a point in this game moves us above Stranraer and a win takes us into sixth.”
Ryan Goodfellow will deputise in goal for the suspended Mark Hurst, with injuries ruling out Scott Robinson and Chris Duggan.
