Brechin City fans have been urged to join the great Glebe Park bus cavalcade for the Highland League title shoot-out with Buckie Thistle.

City are expected to have seven buses – with the promise of more if required – setting off from their home ground at 11am on Saturday for the winner-takes-all clash at Buckie.

Shop windows throughout Brechin are being dressed up in support of their side.

Just a point separates City and Buckie, with Brechin one win away from the clinching the Highland League silverware.

They could be backed by 750 fans with the Victoria Park crowd expected to reach 2,000 for the eagerly-anticipated encounter.

Brechin City Supporters’ club have four buses and the club is also offering seats on their own buses at £10.

“There’s so much excitement for this game,” said Brechin City chairman Kevin Mackie.

“It looks like we’ll have six or seven buses going up but if we need more seats get in touch.

“We want to open this up to as many people as possible. Whether you are a Brechin City regular or this is your first game, come along and support us.

“Our fans are our 12th man and everyone is welcome.

“We will do our best to ensure that anyone who wants a seat on a bus gets one.

“I’d urge anyone who hasn’t yet booked but is planning to come to Buckie to get in touch with us now and we’ll help you.”

Any City fan wishing to book a bus to Brechin can contact the club on communitymanager@brechincityfc.com or by calling 01356 623344.

Meanwhile, Brechin boss Andy Kirk has praised the club’s fans for their ‘phenomenal’ backing.

Kirk and his players showed their appreciation for the 150 travelling support at their 2-0 win at Keith on Wednesday at full-time.

Kirk added: “It was crucial for us to show our gratitude to the fans by applauding them. It always is.

“The support we’ve had this year has been nothing short of phenomenal.

“We have to show our appreciation to them in many ways.

“We need to deliver performances on the pitch.

“But we also need to show at the end of games that we are grateful.

“Our fans spend a lot of time and money jumping in cars or onto buses to travel the country to support us.

“I’ve heard we could have seven buses going to Buckie. There will be others going by car or other modes of transport.

“There will be a big Buckie support too. It should be a fantastic spectacle for the Highland League.

“Hopefully we can make it an exciting occasion for us fans.”
