A Brechin City fan is hoping the club’s ‘Tractor Song’ will go viral after performing it to stunned Scandinavian tourists in a Gran Canaria bar.
Ex-pat entertainer Dave ‘Widget’ Stuart, 42, taught a group of Danish and Norwegians the words to the Angus club’s anthem while performing in Puerto Rico’s Temple Bar on Thursday.
The clip was captured by a punter and posted on Brechin City’s official social media channels alongside a rally call from chairman Kevin Mackie.
City will face a Highland League title decider with Buckie Thistle on Saturday.
A win will see them claim the silverware.
And Stuart hopes his hilarious rendition of his beloved club’s song will relax the players ahead of the trip to Buckie.
Introducing the song to the bar goers, he said: “We’ve got a wee decider on Saturday and I’d love for you to sing this song.
“The players will love it. I’m not joking, this will go viral…in Brechin.”
Stuart has been living in Gran Canaria for 10 years but keeps tabs on Brechin from afar.
He told Courier Sport: “After we beat Keith on Wednesday I put on my Brechin top for my gig at The Temple Bar.
“The pub was full of Norwegians, Danes and a few Irish and no-one really knew what I was on about.
🚌 Spaces are being snapped up quickly on the additional coach provided by the club with limited availability remaining, book as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. To book, please e-mail communitymanager@brechincityfc.com. The cost of the bus is £10pp. https://t.co/Mx1rPj0IRk

“It’s hard enough to explain what our song is about, without adding in a thick Scottish accent to the mix.
“But I’m so excited about the title decider on Saturday and thought I’d have a wee bit of fun and try to teach them the words.
“I don’t know if any of them are Brechin fans but they sang along quite the thing – apart from one person who booed me at the start!”

Brechin City song sung by Harry Souttar
Ex-Brechin youths star Harry Souttar also wowed Glebe Park fans at a World Cup dinner with his rendition of the song on a live video link from Qatar 2022.
And Dave hopes the current crop of Brechin players will get a boost from his song.
He added: “I grew up in Brechin and my mum and dad still live there.
“When I was younger, I had a season ticket at Glebe Park.
“I may be thousands of miles away but I’m proud of my team.
“I try to watch them on streams but our internet is not great.
“They are rarely on TV and don’t often have big games like this one.
“But Saturday is massive and it was great fun trying to teach some random people our song.
“I hope it gives the players a good laugh and relaxes them ahead of the Buckie game.”
