Cowdenbeath still staying positive

Gary Bollan.
Gary Bollan.

Cowdenbeath’s place in the pyramid play-offs will be confirmed today if they lose to Clyde and Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City both win.

But manager Gary Bollan is going into their game with a glass half-full mindset.

He said: “The defeat from Clyde was the only one we have suffered in the last six games and that is a good turnaround in form.

“However we have drawn three of them and we need to turn those draws into wins.

“If we win every game between now and the end of the season then we are in a decent place for whatever happens next.”

Tuesday’s fixture against Montrose was called off after snow and rain had waterlogged the surface at Central Park however Bollan is confident that today’s will go ahead.

He reported: “I was at the ground on Thursday evening and everything was fine. The game would have gone ahead if kick-off had been then.”

Bryan Gilfillan will be fit enough to start leaving only goalkeeper Joe McGovern and midfielder Ryan Connelly unavailable.

On the 3-0 defeat to the Bully Wee less than a fortnight ago, Bollan observed: “That game was a very competitive meeting that hinged on us not being awarded a goal when it was just 1-0.

“They will see this game as a chance to get winning again and to be back in the promotion race if someone else drops points.

“It is our job to stop that happening. Since we played them we secured a draw with Stenhousemuir where again our level of performance was good.”
