Raith Rovers will knock back any approach for Ray McKinnon if and when Mixu Paatelainen is sacked by Dundee United.
The Finn, whose United team were officially relegated to the Championship by bitter rivals Dundee last night, has had a meeting today with chairman Stephen Thompson regarding his future.
Paatelainen left Tannadice half-an-hour later and declined to comment.
His departure is expected to be confirmed soon, and attention will then turn to his successor.
Courier Sport understands that former United midfielder and current Rovers boss Ray McKInnon is the leading contender for the job.
But Raith chief executive Eric Drysdale has insisted that any approach for their man, who will lead Rovers into the first leg of their play-off quarter-final against Hibs tomorrow night, will not be welcome.
“Definitely not,” he told The Courier.
“We’re fully focused on the play-offs.
“Ray is under contract and is the Raith Rovers manager. That’s the way we want it to stay.
