East Fife and Edinburgh City come up with the same idea

East Fife manager Gary Naysmith had to scrap plans to practice the moves that could knock Edinburgh City out of the Scottish Cup at the weekend when the Meadowbank Stadium side turned up on the next training pitch.

With the game between the clubs at Bayview called off on Saturday morning Naysmith quickly booked a pitch at the Oriam Centre in the capital for a training session, with City boss Gary Jardine doing exactly the same.

Naysmith said: “I was disappointed that the game didn’t go ahead however I was determined to keep everyone ticking over and to work on a couple of things that we could have surprised Edinburgh City with.

“When they pitched up on the next park I had to change my plans around as it would have been very easy for them to spy on us and vice-versa.”

Naysmith added: “The date may have changed but what has not changed is that this will be a very difficult tie. They are playing well and with confidence and we will be tested.”

On-loan St Johnstone goalkeeper Mark Hurst has not been given permission to play however the Perth club have allowed defender Jason Kerr to be included. Chris Kane and Scott Robinson return after injury but Chris Duggan is still out.
