Montrose manager Stewart Petrie is “excited” to see his two new young signings in action.
Forwards Matty Smith and Liam Callaghan – on loan from Dundee United and Arbroath respectively – go straight into Petrie’s squad for the visit of bottom of the league Cowdenbeath this afternoon.
If selected, the Links Park boss wants the duo to be part of an attack-minded approach from the hosts.
He said: “We’re excited about Matty and Liam coming in. They’re raring to go.
“Paul Watson is injured and Terry Masson and Michael Bolochoweckyj are both suspended. That’s three senior pros who are out. But it’s a chance for the younger ones and it will be good to see what they can do.”
Petrie added: “It’s important we go out there to attack, especially in our home games.
“If we win we could move right up the table but if we lose we could be bottom. But we’re not looking at it like that. There will be a lot of six-pointers in this league.”
Cowdenbeath manager Liam Fox will look for a recast Blue Brazil side to start their climb away from the foot of the league today.
“It has been a busy week with Scott Rumsby coming in and advancing moves to bring other players in as well,” Fox said.
Portadown striker Matthew Rooney could be added after impressing the Central Park boss in training on Thursday.
Fox added: “Our squad is changing and I am pleased with the changes that have been made. I reckon they will lead to us improving our league position.”
On their trip Angus, Fox said: “We have had a tough couple of games against Montrose so far this season and I would imagine this will be exactly the same. If we win it we go above them but that is something we can say when we play half the teams in the league.”
Midfielder Liam Henderson is in line for a delayed debut and Fraser Mullen returns from suspension. Kenny Adamson and David Robertson are out.
