A 29-year-old man has died following an industrial accident in Forfar.
A full scale emergency response was mounted at an industrial estate on Friday morning after a horrific accident involving an oil tanker.
Police, fire and rescue and ambulance services – including the air ambulance – were scrambled to the Oilfast depot in Orchardbank Industrial Estate when the alarm was raised shortly before 10.30am.
Part of the A90 beside the site was closed to allow easy access for the emergency vehicles and the area was cordoned off for several hours.
At least four Scottish Fire and Rescue vehicles were also in attendance, as well as a police van and ambulance.
Oilfast is a domestic and commercial fuel provider, with depots across Scotland.
A road, which leads to the Oilfast depot and the Guide Dogs Scotland centre was closed off by police as the fire service dealt with the incident.
Firefighters left the scene at about 2.30pm and the road was reopened.
Police tape was then placed around the tanker as officers remained on site. The depot then appeared to return to normal operations as it accepted a delivery.
There were some traffic issues on the nearby A90 as a result of the issue, with lane restrictions in place. This cleared up in the early afternoon.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 10.25am to attend an incident at Orchardbank Industrial Estate, Forfar.
“We dispatched an ambulance crew, our special operations response team and an air ambulance to the scene.”
A fire and rescue spokeswoman said they were “assisting the ambulance service”.
Two appliances, one from Forfar and another from Dundee’s Macalpine Road, were called to the scene.
She added: “The incident involves an oil tanker. We currently have two appliances at the scene along with heavy lifting equipment.”
An Oilfast spokesman said it would be inappropriate to comment “at this time”.
Workers in the buildings could shed no further light on what had happened.
A police van remained at the yard on Friday evening after the office closed.
A six-wheel tanker was cordoned off in the north east corner of the site.
