Locked-down Dundee kids have captured the hearts of local police officers with their coronavirus kindness.

One city eight-year-old sent hand sanitiser and masks to the Bell Street headquarters, telling police ‘They are not the best, but it’s better than nothing’ alongside a heartfelt plea to protect themselves.

In another kind act at Baluniefield on the east of Dundee, another eight-year-old pinned a rainbow poster to the gates of the station with her Thank You message emblazoned across it.

Tayside Police have described the youngsters as “absolute stars” in social media posts which have been viewed thousands of times and brought praise for the pair.

The force said: “A mysterious ‘thank you Tayside Police’ poster appeared on the gates at Baluniefield in Dundee. A wee bit of detective work revealed this to be the work of 8-year-old Jessica Crabb, who lives nearby in Douglas. Thank you Jessica, your kind thoughts and words mean a lot to us.”

The other gesture was made by a girl named Natasha, who penned a poignant note to accompany her gift.

Natasha left her gift and message at Bell Street HQ.

It read: “Dear Police Officers,

I am Natasha, I am 8 years old.

“Thank you for protecting us I hope you can protect yourself as well.

I would like to share some masks with you. They are not the best but it’s better than nothing.

“Take care and thanks again,” wrote the youngster above her colourful picture of a rainbow and bright sun.

The force said: “Genuinely, gestures like this mean the world to us, and they really do make us smile, particularly at difficult times like these where things can be difficult for everyone.

“Thank you girls – you are absolute stars. Or rainbows, whichever is more fitting!”
